Civic (CVC)

The Civic Identity Platform is intended to provide trusted digital identity services that are compliant with laws and regulations around the world. Once identity data is provided by a user, Civic uses multiple identity validation service providers to verify submitted data against phone, credit, social media, and other public records. By combining multiple reputable sources with fraud detection algorithms, manual auditing, and its own internal decision engine, Civic attempts to maintain a high pass rate for legitimate users while mitigating the risks of fraudulent behavior.

Mining/Staking

Civic is currently set up as an ERC20 token on the Ethereum blockchain.

Development Team

Civic has a mid-sized development and advisory team which includes persons affiliated with Bloq, Protocol Labs, and the Jaxx wallet. However, the team link below only shows the founders.

Criticisms, Caveats, and Competitors

One potential problem with Civic would be related to sovereign risk, in that various national governments may have differing ideas about verification and qualification of individuals' identities. A potential competitor is Selfkey.
