KuCoin Shares (KCS)
KuCoin is an Asian crypto exchange which refers to themselves as "the peoples' exchange." Their trading platform went live in late 2017, based in Hong Kong and hosted on Amazon Web Services. The exchange has a coni (KCS) which is an exchange token. People who hold KCS tokens on the exchange receive discounts on their trading fees for all other assets. In addition, there are daily bonuses awarded to all KCS holders, which come from a portion of the overall trading fees that the exchange generates.
Mining/Staking
KCS is an ERC20 token on the Ethereum platform. It is bought/sold rather than being mined. Holding your KCS on the exchange is similar to staking, and you'll receive rewards for doing this (similar to receiving staking rewards, although perhaps more variable as they are dependent upon daily exchange trading fees generated, and are thus tied somewhat to exchange volumes).
Development Team
The team for the KCS token is the same as the team that built the KuCoin exchange.
Criticisms, Caveats, and Competitors
When you buy KCS, it allegedly takes 48 hours for your holdings to appear.
