Pivx (PIVX)

Pivx is an acronym for Private Instant Verified Transaction. It is a pure cryptocurrency which was built upon the Bitcoin code base, and which focuses upon transactional security and a privacy focus (using Zerocoin protocol technology).

Mining/Staking

Pivx started out by using a proof-of-work consensus algorithm, but has since switched to a proof-of-stake system. Blocks are currently 2MB in size, and are targeted to be created once every sixty seconds, with a max block reward of 5 PIVX.

Development Team

Information about the development team can be found on the main website. However, team member inclusion in these listings is optional, and many of the members use avatars and aliases (after all, this project is marketed as privacy-centric), and on top of that, the "team" includes general community members who contribute in various ways, rather than being restricted to more stream-lined and pure development/advisory roles.

Criticisms, Caveats, and Competitors

Although at least a dozen projects are listed as privacy-oriented coins, most have various shortcomings. Pivx currently ranks fairly highly among these privacy coins, although its biggest competitor would be Monero.
