Walton (WTC)

Walton, or WaltonChain, is a project that combines blockchain with the Internet of Things (IoT) via RFID technology. Their unique patented RFID chips are able to able to read/write directly to the blockchain, creating information transparency.

Mining/Staking

Walton will use a Proof of Work system once the mainnet is up and operational. At the present time (early 2018), WTC is an ERC20 token on the Ethereum blockchain, which will be exchangable 1-for-1 when the main blockchain is deployed. The currently circulating supply is approximately 25 million out of 40 million tokens issued, with a maximum supply of 70 million. Another 30 million remain to be mined. The long-term total coin supply is set at 100 million coins, and we aren't sure why there is a different between the maximum supply and the total supply.

Development Team

The team is made up of a number of individuals who mostly come from China and South Korean. The founder is Xu Fangcheng from China, and the co-founder is Du Xianghe from South Korea.

Criticisms, Caveats, and Competitors

The main criticism of this project is that the mainnet is not deployed yet. Critics also question the exact relationship between the RFID chips and the eventual Walton blockchain.
